I’m happy to say I’m about to embark on a new recording this Summer. This one will be something a little different… I’ve been writing a lot more songs with a gospel vibe and content which has been fun. For the longest time, I’ve tried to keep the two things separate – my faith and my original music – but as time goes on, the less I want to do that. A good friend of mine once told me that music is about expressing oneself as honestly and fully as possible. These are some of the songs that show more of my portrait than ever before. Have a listen to a live acoustic recording of ‘It Ain’t Over’, filmed in my friend’s beautiful front room. This will be one of the four songs we’ll be recording on the EP.
There’s another first in this project too. I want to make it free! I’d like whoever wants a copy to have a copy with no strings attached. I’d like to be able to give some away to churches and to the stranger on the street. I’d like other people to be able to give my CD to those who need encouragement and hope. I generally feel weird about charging people for gospel music.
It’s obvious it costs money to make music though… I’m estimating almost £5k to make this one (that’s for 1000 CDs). My idea is to ask people to donate as much as they’d like to to have the CD, whether it’s nothing but the postage costs or £100 for one, two or ten. That way, I’ll be able to manufacture more as and when I need to. I’ll be setting up a page for people to be able to do that.
But you might like to help me get started! I would very much appreciate that. I’m still figuring out the ins and outs of how it will work but I’d love to know if you’re interested in helping me produce this new CD. Please drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org to show your interest.
Eeek! I’m nervous and excited and ready to do a new thing. Thanks for coming on this journey with me. Toodleloo!
